The Waterloo Region Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centre are a team of forensic nurses and social workers who are on-call 24/7, for those who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence and human trafficking.
We operate through the Emergency Departments of St. Mary’s General Hospital and Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Care options such as forensic evidence collection, medical treatment, safety planning and counselling are provided.
Follow-up, trauma informed counselling, is offered for those seen in hospital and referred to our program the community.
We believe that all individuals, despite gender, age, race, and identity, have a right to a life free of violence. Our team works in partnership with many local agencies geared to ensure clients receive seamless and coordinated care, during their healing journey.
We are members of The Family Violence Project of Waterloo Region. The FVP is a collaborative of agencies that work together to provide seamless, person-centred and trauma-informed wraparound support for those who have experienced violence – in one location.
